The Who, What, and Why:

I am Dr. Emma, a chiropractor based in Washington state and the founder of Lumos Chiropractic. My practice focuses on pregnancy, postpartum, infants, children, and families, with a particular emphasis on the brain and nervous system and how deeply it shapes everything, from how a baby feeds and explores to how a child learns and grows.

I did not stumble into this work. I grew up with chiropractic care and watched firsthand how supporting the nervous system helped my own body adapt through childhood and into adulthood.

I also grew up surrounded by extended family and community and that shaped something in me early; the belief that raising children takes many hands. And that being part of someone's village is a genuine privilege.

That is still how I approach every family that walks through my door.

What I Actually Do

Chiropractic care at Lumos is gentle, specific, and tailored to each person. For a newborn it looks completely different than it does for a pregnant mama or a school-aged child. The goal is always the same though - remove interference in the nervous system so the brain and body can communicate clearly and do what they are designed to do.

Beyond adjusting, I am certified as a Dynamic Body Balancing facilitator, a gentle fascial release technique. I also offer something I am especially passionate about called the Brain Blossom Program™.

Brain development happens in stages and sometimes those stages get interrupted or skipped. This can show up as learning struggles, emotional dysregulation, sensory challenges, or difficulty with social connection. The Brain Blossom Program™ is designed to help children fill in the gaps so the brain can build on a more complete foundation through short, purposeful, play-based exercises and brain-body games.

The certifications matter to me because my clients deserve a provider who keeps learning. But what matters more is that families leave feeling heard, supported, and equipped with tools they can actually use.

Who Adjusted is for:

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of this work has always been the education piece. Helping families understand what is happening in their child's body, or in their own body, and why it matters is something I never get tired of. This newsletter is an extension of that. A way to keep sharing what I know and learning alongside you - even outside the office walls.

Each issue will be short and worth your time. One topic, one tool, and occasionally something I genuinely love and think you will too.
